KAMLOOPS – The Thompson Rivers WolfPack men's basketball team will see their final home action of 2021-22 inside the TCC this week as they get set to host the Trinity Western Spartans.

The 4-11 WolfPack will welcome the 7-9 Spartans at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday with the hosts looking to cool down the streaking Spartans and pick up their first win of the second semester. After a first semester that saw them go 4-4, the WolfPack are 0-7 in a 2022 slate during which the team has been plagued with injuries. Trinity Western meanwhile started the year 0-6 but are 7-3 in the second half of the season.

The WolfPack nearly knocked off the 12-1 UVic Vikes last weekend. Facing UVic in a pair of games at home TRU fell 104-70 on Wednesday before taking the Vikes down to the wire in a 94-87 loss on Thursday. Asher Mayan had a career-high 33 points in the loss as the second-year player from Langley went 11-18 from the floor. Not far behind Mayan was Brendan Sullivan who finished with 29 of his own.

Trinity played just one game last week when they defeated the UBC Okanagan Heat in Kelowna. Ja'Qualyn Gilbreath had 32 points in the victory for Trinity.

These two teams met earlier in the year with the Spartans taking a pair of victories in January. The WolfPack led on both nights but slow fourth quarters doomed the 'Pack in losses of 78-73 and 94-78 in Langley.

3 Things

1: Fans 12-and-over attending the games will be required to show proof of full vaccination. Per provincial guidelines attendance will be limited to 50 per cent capacity.

3: TRU students get into the games for free.

By the Numbers
