KAMLOOPS – Another swim, another accomplishment for
Matthew Gauthier after the Thompson Rivers WolfPack swimmer started his time at the 2022 U SPORTS Championship off strongly in Laval, QC.
COMPLETE RESULTS
The product of Sylvan Lake, AB just narrowly missed out on qualifying for the 'A' Final in the 100-metre breaststroke with a time of 1:01.63, good enough for 13th in the prelims and a spot in the 'B' Final.
Gauthier was able to rebound from the disappointment of missing out on the 'A' Final and put together a new personal-best time of 1:00.54 to take the 'B' Final title by seven tenths of a second. Gauthier's time in the 'B' Final would have seen the swimmer finish seventh in the 'A' Final.
In the pool again this morning, Gauthier finished 37th in the prelims for the 50-metre butterfly.
Next up for Gauthier is his best distance when he competes in the 50-metre breaststroke tomorrow morning in Quebec. Pulling double duty, Gauthier will also compete in the 100-metre freestyle tomorrow. Prelim swims get underway at 7 a.m. Kamloops time and can be watched on the U SPORTS Facebook page with finals starting at 3 p.m.
