Weekend Story
 
KAMLOOPS – At long last the 2023-24 CW regular season is here for a Thompson Rivers WolfPack women's basketball team that gets their campaign underway at home this weekend.
 
Taking place at 5:30 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday, the 'Pack will welcome the Trinity Western Spartans to the TCC.

A preseason campaign that featured a contest against NCAA Division 1 Nevada saw TRU pick up a pair of wins. The 'Pack defeated both the MacEwan Griffins (70-57) and Manitoba Bisons (69-67) at home.
 
It's an extremely young WolfPack roster that will hit the floor for Todd Warnick's second season with the program. 10 of the 16 players on the roster are in their first year of eligibility. TRU was pegged 15th in the Canada West Coaches Poll while the Spartans slotted in 10th.
 
TWU finished their preseason slate with a record of 3-3 with their most recent result being a 71-67 loss to the UVic Vikes.
 
While the Spartans hold the historical edge between the two programs, TRU was won two of the last four matches the teams have played in Kamloops.

1: There will be hot food and a beer garden served up inside the TCC all season long.
 
2: The last time TRU won their first CW game in a season was 2019-20 when they defeated these very same Spartans in Kamloops.
 
3: All high school student-athletes in Kamloops and Merritt have a High School All-Access Pass that allows them free entry to every WolfPack game this season.

A dynamo with the ball in her hands, Danijela Kovacevic has just gotten better and better throughout her time with the WolfPack. Now entering her third year with the program, Kovacevic boasts an explosive first step and a great ability to distribute the ball. The product of Serbia is poised to set the pace for a young WolfPack squad this season.
