Heat bring an end to WolfPack streak

QUICK FIRE
  • For the first time in three matches the Thompson Rivers WolfPack women's volleyball team tasted defeated Saturday night inside the TCC in a 3-0 (25-9, 25-23, 25-16) defeat at the hands of the UBC Okanagan Heat.
 
DIFFERENCE MAKERS
  • Brooklyn Olfert led the way for TRU with nine kills. Coming off the bench both Lucy Millam and Myah Cressy were efficient en route to three kills apiece.
  • Olivia Tymkiw was key for UBCO with 13 kills and a hitting percentage of .619%. Madison Gardner added nine kills on just 11 swings.
  • The Heat were dominant at the service line with 12 aces to TRU's one.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After the Heat dominated the first set, TRU had their best effort of the night in the second. The WolfPack hit .250% as a team and had 14 kills to UBCO's nine in the frame. The win wasn't meant to be however as UBCO scored three of the next four points to turn a 22-22 tie into a 25-23 victory.
  • UBCO continued that dominance into a third set that saw them .571% as a team en route to the 25-16 victory.

NOTABLE
  • The result brought an end to TRU's program-best run of nine-straight set victories.
  • TRU moves to 6-10 on the season while the Heat move to 7-11. Both teams remain right on the edge of the playoff picture.
 
UP NEXT
  • TRU will remain in Kamloops and get set to host the Trinity Western Spartans in a rare Thursday – Friday set next weekend.
