Weekend Story

KAMLOOPS –A pair of games at home are ahead for a Thompson Rivers WolfPack men's basketball team that is hoping to vault up the standings in the second half of the season.

The 'Pack will host the Fraser Valley Cascades on both Friday and Saturday night inside the TCC with both games scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m.

TRU, sitting at 1-5, is set to tangle with a 3-5 UFV team that is holding on to the final playoff spot in the Canada West conference at the halfway point of the season.

It will be a return to action for TRU as they are set to play their first Canada West games since November 18. The WolfPack lost a pair of incredibly tight games against Regina back in November, including a loss by just five points on Saturday. Taking a trip to Anaheim over the winter break, the 'Pack fell in a pair of exhibition games to Saint Katherine University (86-57) and Westcliff University (75-55) respectively.

The Cascades are one of the few teams in the conference that didn't play exhibition games over the winter break. They enter the weekend on the backs of a pair of losses to the Regina Cougars back on Nov. 24 and 25.

Fraser Valley won both games these teams played last season. They picked up pair of close wins by scores of 79-70 and 92-88 in Abbotsford.

3 Things

1: There will be hot food and a beer garden served up inside the TCC all season long.

2: Halftime action will be non-stop in the TCC this weekend with soccer freestyler Julian Muckle providing the entertainment Friday before a group of Ukrainian dancers take centre stage Saturday.

3: All high school student-athletes in Kamloops and Merritt have a High School All-Access Pass that allows them free entry to every WolfPack game this season.

By the Numbers

55.6%: TRU's Evan Smith is second in the conference in three-point percentage, knocking down 10 of his 18 attempts this season.

73.5: TRU boasts the fourth-best defence in the country, surrendering just 73.5 points-per-game.

6-15: TRU is 6-15 at home against Fraser Valley in CW conference play.
