DIFFERENCE MAKERS
  • Outside Hitter Brooklyn Olfert was explosive in tonight's match-up with 21 kills, three digs and two aces. Rida Erlalelitepe was a dominant force, both offensively and defensively, with 18 kills, eight digs and a pair of aces. HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The two teams took turns going back-and-forth all game long. The first set saw the Spartans earn a 5-0 run right out of the gate which was what they needed to come out on top and take the frame 25-23. The second set saw the WolfPack go on two separate 3-0 runs to take the second set 25-19.
  • Trinity Western gained an early lead in the third set after going on a couple runs to put themselves up by eight points at 13-5. From there the 'Pack found their stride and charged back to tie the set up at 17-17. Erlalelitepe and Olfert had a combined 11 kills and the WolfPack fired in five aces to take the set 26-24.
  • The fourth set saw the Spartans rally and outpace the 'Pack. Murray and Plouffe had a combined 9 kills to lead the Spartans as they took the fourth set 25-18 to force a fifth and final frame.
  • The Wolfpack set out to win in the fifth set, taking the first point and then going on a quick 3-0 run to lead 4-1. The fifth set saw another combined eight kills from Erlalelitepe and Olfert which led Thompson Rivers to a dominant fifth set win by a tally of 15-8 to take the match.

NOTABLE
  • Since joining Canada West in 2005-06, the win was third regular season victory in program history for the 'Pack over the perennial powerhouse Spartans.
  • Rida Erlalelitepe earned the 100th kill of her Canada West career in just six games with the 'Pack.
  • After the win tonight, Thompson Rivers – who is ranked No. 5 in Canada, moves to 5-2 while Trinity Western drops to 5-4.

QUOTABLE (WolfPack head coach, Chad Grimm)
  • It was an up-and-down match, we had some poor starts but were able to turn it around – especially in the third set. It was nice to turn it around but isn't something we can continuously do and expect to get a result.
  • I think we can compete with anybody, and that doesn't always mean that you're going to get a result, but we can put ourselves in the fight every night if we do our jobs consistently.
  • In my years here we haven't had this level of depth. It's something that we try to use so it's good that different people can come in and contribute because it's a long season and we are going to need that.

UP NEXT
  • The WolfPack take on the Spartans again tomorrow at 4:45 p.m. tomorrow evening in the TCC.
