Weekend Story

KAMLOOPS – Fans of the Thompson Rivers WolfPack men's basketball team will have one final chance to catch their team in action at home when they play host to the MRU Cougars this weekend in the TCC.

The games, scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday, will see the 4-12 WolfPack squad facing an 8-10 Cougars team with their playoff hopes on the line. Currently three games behind the UFV Cascades for the 12th and final playoff spot but with two games in hand, TRU will need to rack up some victories in their final four games of the season.

Saturday will also see the 'Pack honour both Daniel Bost and Tyler Schilling as graduating members of the program. With the program for the past three seasons, Bost is a product of Seaside, CAL and is a business major. Originally from Darfield, B.C. Schilling has played for TRU since 2018.

The 'Pack dropped a pair of games to the Alberta Golden Bears in Edmonton last weekend. The hosts proved to be too much for TRU to handle in scores of 80-53 and 83-61.

Mount Royal comes into the weekend after splitting a pair of games with the Cascades last weekend. UFV took the first game 84-74 before MRU rebounded with a tight 72-70 victory.

The most recent meetings between these two teams came in the 2021-22 CW postseason with MRU earning an 80-75 victory.

3 Things

1: The Tara School of Irish Dancing will perform at halftime on Friday while the Kamloops-Thompson Honour Choir will sing at halftime on Saturday.

2: There will be hot food and a beer garden served up inside the TCC all season long.

3: The 'Pack are thrilled to host Stites Co. for a courtside reception Friday while Aaron Krausert will be the game sponsor on Saturday.

By the Numbers

92: 92 three-pointers in 54 CW games for Bost is good enough for him to rank 10th in program history.

73.9:  TRU is allowing just 73.9 points-per-game, the fifth-best mark in the conference.

12-3: TRU is 12-3 in CW play vs. the Cougars.
