Second quarter slump dooms ‘Pack in loss to Heat

QUICK FIRE
  • An ice-cold offence in the second quarter spelled defeat for a Thompson Rivers WolfPack women's basketball team that loss 80-38 to the UBC Okanagan Heat in Kelowna Friday night.

DIFFERENCE MAKERS
  • Danijela Kovacevic led the 'Pack with ten points. Both Kate De La Mare and Jocelyn Orr added five.
  • Four players led the Heat in scoring. Kelsey Falk, Tsuki Tsuzuki, Lauren Foullong and Kiana Kaczur all had 13 points for the hosts.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • TRU played their best basketball of the night early. Kovacevic had six points in the frame with De La Mare adding five as the 'Pack jumped out to an early 8-4 lead. The teams traded points all the way to tied up at 16-16 before the Heat snagged the lead by a tally of 22-16 at the end of the quarter.
  • The Heat were able to carry that momentum over into the second quarter. The hosts dominated the second frame by a tally of 20-2 to jump out to a lead that they would never surrender en route to claiming the victory.
