KAMLOOPS – The Thompson Rivers WolfPack women's curling team will bring a fourth-place finish in the nation back to Kamloops after an outstanding showing at the 2025 U SPORTS National Curling Championship this past week in Lethbridge.
 
The team of: skip Holly Hafeli, third Jorja Kopytko, second Hannah O'Neil and lead Natalie Hafeli went 5-4 over the five-day event, earning the fourth top four finish for the 'Pack in the tournament's history.
 
After starting the bonspiel with a 7-2 defeat at the hands of the eventual champion Wilfird Laurier Golden Hawks, TRU caught fire on the second day. The WolfPack took down the McMaster Marauders and Lethbridge Pronghorns in convincing fashion, picking up wins of 10-3 and 10-4 respectively.
 
An 8-6 setback to the Dalhousie Tigers on the morning of day three was followed by an outstanding run from TRU. The 'Pack took down the Guelph Gryphons 6-3 and the StFX X-women 6-2 before a crucial clash. Facing the Regina Cougars squad that denied them Canada West gold just weeks earlier at the conference championships, TRU scored one point in the second, third and fourth ends before adding a pair in the sixth to defeat Regina and secure second place after the round robin portion of the tournament with a 5-4 victory.
 
Two incredibly close losses in the playoffs saw the 'Pack finish fourth. The WolfPack surrendered two points in the second and fifth end en route to a narrow 5-4 loss to McMaster in the semifinals. Battling Dalhousie for bronze, the 'Pack jumped out to a 4-1 lead but the medal wasn't meant to be as the Tigers stormed back to take the match 6-5.
 
TRU qualified for the national championship after a silver medal finish at the Canada West Championship Jan. 31-Feb. 2.
