WolfPack partner with Play Forever to deliver free youth programming in Kamloops

KAMLOOPS, BC — Play Forever, a Registered Canadian Charity dedicated to breaking down barriers to recreation and education, is excited to announce a new partnership with Thompson Rivers University (TRU) Athletics to launch youth sports and mentorship programming in Kamloops.

"Play Forever is a National Registered Charity committed to building better communities through inclusive sport opportunities," said Clint Hamilton, Manager, Programs & Operations – Play Forever. "We are very pleased to be partnering with TRU and WolfPack Athletics, leaders in the Kamloops community, to bring accessible sport to youth in the region."

Starting with a weekly basketball camp for youth ages grade 6-9 in the middle of September, the programming will consist of basketball skills, 3 vs 3 play, a group meal, and a guest speaker. The program is offered at John Tod Community Centre gymnasium (150 Wood Street, Kamloops, BC) and will run every Tuesday from 4:00-5:30 p.m. from Sept. 16 – Oct. 28.

The collaboration will bring Play Forever's signature approach to youth engagement, one that combines sports, leadership, and mentorship, directly to TRU's surrounding communities.

"We are grateful to Clint Hamilton and the Play Forever team for their support in bringing this valuable program to Kamloops," said Curtis Atkinson, director of athletics and recreation at TRU. "We are looking forward to partnering together to have an impact on youth in the Kamloops region."

Programming will be coordinated locally by TRU Athletics, with support from Play Forever and integrated into the role of a men's basketball assistant coach within the university's athletics department.

"We look forward to our partnership with the WolfPack men's basketball team to unlock opportunities for youth in the Kamloops region," said Hamilton.

The initiative is made possible through a $10,000 contribution from Play Forever to support local program delivery, staffing, and logistics. Activities will include training sessions, tournaments, workshops, and outreach events designed to empower underserved youth across Kamloops.
