Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | TRU WolfPack

WolfPack can’t bring an end to UBC winning streak

QUICK FIRE
  • On the heels of a victory over the No. 5 ranked team in Canada the Thompson Rivers WolfPack women's soccer team couldn't make it two upsets in a row as they fell to the No. 1 ranked UBC Thunderbirds 5-0 in Vancouver.

DIFFERENCE MAKERS
  • Esi Lufo and Floor Ursem both had a shot on net for the 'Pack while Floor Ursem made five saves in the contest.
  • Five different players for the T-Birds found the back of the net on the night: Ava Alexander, Holly Whelan, Maddy Norman, Sienna Gibson and Jayda Thompson.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The 'Pack hung tough with the T-Birds in the first half, trailing just 1-0 through the opening 45 minutes of play. Ursem made four stops in the first half while multiple WolfPack defenders leapt in front of shots to keep the game close.
  • TRU came out on the front foot after the restart, with Lufo forcing the first save of the night from UBC keeper Dakota Beckett in the 47th minute.
  • Unfortunately for the 'Pack the potent UBC attack proved to be too much down the stretch, as the Thunderbirds scored four times in the remainder of the game to run away with the victory.

NOTABLE
  • Through the opening seven games of the season the WolfPack are second in Pacific division with 12 points thanks to a record of 4-3-0.
  • The win was UBC's 30th-consecutive victory in Canada West play.

UP NEXT
  • The 'Pack will be back in Kamloops next weekend for a single game at home. TRU will look to get back to winning ways when they host the UNBC Timberwolves inside Hillside Stadium at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20.
