Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | TRU WolfPack

WolfPack pull away from TWolves for victory in 2026-27 season-opener

QUICK FIRE
  • The Thompson Rivers WolfPack men's basketball team picked up right where they left off last season with a commanding 84-71 victory over the UNBC Timberwolves Saturday afternoon in Prince George.

DIFFERENCE MAKERS
  • Kamloops local Cason Scott led the way offensively for the WolfPack with 25 points and six rebounds. Jayden Stephens went 3-3 from long-range en route to 17 points while Dami Farinloye (12 points) and Steve Stinson (10) rounded out the WolfPack's top scorers.
  • Evgeny Baukin led the Timberwolves with 21 points in the game.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • A fast-paced first quarter saw the Timberwolves hold a 25-21 lead after the first frame.
  • The WolfPack flipped that script in the second quarter, outscoring UNBC 28-20 to take the lead into the halftime break. Stinson led the way with nine points in the second for the WolfPack followed closely by Scott who tallied seven.
  • UNBC cut into that WolfPack advantage in the third, trimming it all the way to just one point as TRU led 65-64 heading into the final quarter.
  • The defence came to life for the WolfPack in the fourth quarter as they limited UNBC to just seven points in the final frame while forcing the Timberwolves into six turnovers. The WolfPack finished the game on a 13-5 run that featured five points from Scott to pull away with the 13-point victory.

NOTABLE
  • Scott's 25 points were the second most he has scored in a single game in his young WolfPack career.
  • This was the WolfPack's eighth-straight win over UNBC in Canada West play. The WolfPack are 25-9 all-time against the Timberwolves.

UP NEXT
  • The WolfPack will be back in action next Sunday, Nov. 1, when they host the UBC Okangan Heat in their first game of the year inside the TCC. That game gets underway at 3:00 p.m.
