KAMLOOPS – A pair of members from the Thompson Rivers WolfPack men's basketball team have earned conference recognition for their outstanding 2025-26 seasons.
Cason Scott earned a spot on the Canada West All-Rookie Team while
Jayden Stephens was named a Canada West Second Team All-Star. This is the first time since the 2019-20 season that the team has had a player selected to a Canada West All-Star squad.
It was a debut season to remember for Kamloopsian
Cason Scott. The product of Westsyde Secondary finished third on the team with 11.1 points-per-game while playing over 20 minutes a night in his freshman campaign. Scott placed fourth in the conference among rookies in scoring and has written his name throughout the program record book. Scott's rookie season ranks second in points-per-game (11.1) and blocks-per-game (0.8) as well as fifth in rebounds-per-game (4.9) in program history for rookies. Scott's 28-point outburst against the TWU Spartans on Nov. 15 is the most points scored in a single game by any rookie for the WolfPack.
"We are extremely proud of Cason for being named to the Canada West All-Rookie Team this season," said WolfPack head coach
Chad Jacobson. "Cason's development and production over the course of the season continued to grow with every opportunity this year. We knew that he was a very special player when we recruited him and to see him play at the level he did over the course of the year proved that. His ability to impact the game in so many ways on both ends of the floor played a vital part in our team's success this year. We're excited for him to have a big offseason and continue to grow his role with our team."
Able to score at all three levels,
Jayden Stephens excelled for the WolfPack this past season. Coming to TRU from Calgary by way of Rust College in Mississippi, Stephens hit the ground running with the 'Pack, finishing sixth in the conference in scoring with 17.2 points-per-game this season. With 31 points on Friday night and 18 points in the rematch Saturday, Stephens powered the 'Pack to a first-ever sweep over the UBC Thunderbirds in program history back in early November. Not only did Stephens lead TRU in scoring, he also finished the season second in rebounds and third in steals.
"We're very happy for Jayden to be named a Canada West Second Team All-Star this season," said Jacobson. "Jayden showed all year that he is a very talented offensive player. His ability to score the basketball in a variety of ways was an important part of our team's success. His ability to make dynamic plays with the ball in his hands made him a difficult matchup in for opposing teams in our league."
Scott joins past members of the WolfPack, Josh Mayorga (2014-15), Jeff Tubbs (2015-16) and Tyus De Vries (2019-20) in receiving Canada West All-Rookie honours. Stephens adds his name to the list of Canada West Second Team All-Stars in program history alongside Justin King (2011-12) and Joe Davis (2019-20)
The pair of honourees helped TRU to a record of 12-8, the third-most wins in a season in program history. The WolfPack made the Canada West postseason for the second-consecutive season where they were narrowly defeated 70-66 by the Calgary Dinos.
