
For the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack women’s volleyball team, the 2012-13 Canada West regular season has been a learning experience. Tonight (Fri Jan 18), the WolfPack were taken to school again. This time, by the top ranked team in the nation—the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds in straight sets (3-0). The scores were 25-10,25-16,25-11 at the TRU Gym. The match lasted 55 minutes.

“It is always good to come into an unfamiliar gym, “ said Thunderbirds head coach Doug Reimer. “ None of our players have ever performed here before. We had to adapt. We got the chance to play some different people . There were times where our execution wasn’t the best but it was good to see some of our younger players.”

nd year, Victoria, BC) to be named player of the game. She has worked very hard . She didn’t have any serving errors tonight. “

Thde Thunderbirds were led by Lisa Barclay(3
rd year, outside hitter, Brandon, MB ) who had 10 kills in 14 swings. Rosie Schlaigintweit( 3
rd year, outside hitter, Abbotsford, BC) had nine kills in 16 opportunities. Kirsty Setterlund (3
rd year, setter, White Rock, BC) had 26 assists while Danielle Richards (5
th year, libero, Shawnigan, Lake, BC) had a team high five digs.
For the WolfPack: Rachel Murray (1
st year, Edmonton, AB) had four kills in 15 chances. Nelson was three for 14 with Kirsten Giesbrecht (1
st year, Gretna, MB) having two kills in 14 chances. She and Murray had three digs to follow Katie Woo (1
st year, Surrey, BC) who had a team high four digs along with seven assists.

With the victory, UBC moves to 14 and 1 on the season and have won their last 13 straight matches.
The teams play again Saturday (Jan 19) at the TRU Gym. Game time is 5 pm. There will be a special ceremony honoring alumni at the contest.
