The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack scored 48 points in the second half en route to defeating the University of Northern British Columbia Timberwolves 82-77 in Canada West men's basketball action Saturday night (Nov 23) in Kamloops.
The WolfPack got some key points from Anton BIlous (5
th year, guard, Cerkassy, Ukraine). He was named "The Den player of the game" with 17 point and five rebounds. He was one of five players on Thompson Rivers with double figures offensively.
Tyus De Vries (3
rd year guard, Chilliwack, BC) and
Rojhae Colbert (3
rd year, forward, Phoenix, AZ) each had 14 points.
Joe Davis (5
th year, forward, Kamloops, BC) added 12 and had 10 boards while Micheal Rouault (5
th year, guard, Vernon, BC) had 11 to go with nine rebounds
.
The Timberwolves had three players in double figures led by Tyrell Laing (4
th year, guard, Prince George, BC) with 28 points. Vova Pluzhnikov (4
th year guard, Kharkiv, Ukraine) had 16 points and six rebounds (four defensively) while Anthony Hokanson (5
th year, guard, Vancouver, BC) had 16 points.
The victory moves the WolfPack to 6-2 on the season while the Timberwolves drop to .500 at 4-4.
SYNOPSIS
The Timberwolves led 40-34 at the half led by Laing's 12 points. Hokanson had 10 of his 16 points in the first half as well. Thompson Rivers was led by Colbert in the first half with 10 points. Both teams played good defence as TRU had turned over the ball 4 times in the first two periods to only once by UNBC.
UNBC had 46 points in the paint compared to Thompson Rivers who scored 14 off of turnovers to UNBC's five. The Pack bench outgunned the UNBC subs 20-9.
Thompson Rivers had 50 rebounds in the contest including 12 alone in the final period. UNBC had 37 rebounds.

The WolfPack will close out the pre-Christmas portion of their Canada West season next weekend (Nov 29-30) against the University of Saskatchewan Huskies. Both of those games will be at the Tournament Capital Centre. The Timberwolves have a bye next week and don't play again until Friday, January 3, 2020 when they visit the Dinos in Calgary.
