Day 3--CCBC championships (Pack knocked out)

Courtney Sampson – WolfPack Baseball Communications

- The third day of the annual Canadian College Baseball Conference Nationals opened up today (May 11th) at Kamloops' Norbrock Stadium. The home team, the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack and their season-long rivals, the Okanagan College Coyotes at 1 pm. Chris Wyslobocki, the sophomore pitcher (Toronto, ON), threw a complete game for the Coyotes allowing just one run on two hits and striking out nine. The WolfPack faced the 7-1 loss in front of their home crowd forcing them to the play-in game for a chance at the finals.

At 4 pm the 'Pack returned to the field, this time facing off with the University of Fraser Valley's Cascades as the opposition. Joe Siniscalchi (Burnaby, BC) started the game off for the 'Pack, who rotated through four pitchers in the nine-inning game. Tyler Hodder (Fort McMurray, AB) finished the game off for the 'Pack, both he and Siniscachi were named second-team all-stars in the 2018-2019 CCBC season. For the Cascades, it was Dylan Emmons (Vernon, BC) who brought in the teams 9-4 win. Kamloops Minor Baseball product, Riley Jepson (Salmon Arm, BC) scored one run for the Cascades and had two RBI. The loss marked the end of the TRU WolfPack's season, putting UFV Cascades in the finals against the OC Coyotes.

7 pm saw the first game of the CCBC finals, which for the first time is a best-of-three match up. The OC Coyotes took the mound against the UFV Cascades. Despite lower ranking coming into the tournament, the third-ranked Cascades  were leading 6-3, against the second place ranked Coyotes when the sprinklers came on at Norbrock Stadium postponing the conclusion of hte game. That will be made up starting at 10 am.

The teams will then play game two today (May 12th) morning at 11 am. The schedule and game results can be found on the CCBC website. Spectators are encouraged to come out to watch the games, weekend passes can be bought through eventbrite.ca or game tickets at the gate and those who are unable to attend can stream all games played at Norbrock stadium through the WolfPack baseball TV link.
