KAMLOOPS – For one last time in the 2023 season the Thompson Rivers WolfPack baseball team will take to the field in Kamloops this weekend, as they finish up their regular season with a pair of games at home.
Sitting at 13-13 on the season, the WolfPack find themselves in fifth place in the
Canadian College Baseball Conference standings with four games left to play. TRU will head to Kelowna for two games with the Okanagan College Coyotes (17-11) on Friday before facing the Fraser Valley Cascades (12-16) at home on Saturday.
A Saturday double-header that starts at noon at the Canada Games Field on McArthur Island Park, the games will see TRU face a Cascades team that they split a four game series with down in Abbotsford in early May. The WolfPack will don special pink jerseys for the games in honour of Mother's Day.
TRU will be looking to climb their way up the standings in this final weekend of CCBC play in the hopes of securing a higher seed at the
Canadian College World Series that takes place May 18-22 in Lethbridge, AB. Currently their fifth-place position would have them facing the Calgary Dinos (15-13) in the first round of the championship.
Zac Robinson and
Kolby Lukinchuk have led the way on the mound for TRU throughout the season, with both pitchers starting six games. Robinson has compiled a pair of wins and surrendered just 15 earned runs though 33.1 innings pitched while Lukinchuk has stuck out a team-high 34 batters and holds an ERA of 3.66.
At the plate
Josh Wright has compiled 32 hits for a team best average of .330, while
Matt Olsen with 19 and
Tate Larson with 18 lead the squad in RBI's.
The games on Saturday are free for all spectators.
