Men's Basketball hit double digits for seasons wins in Brandon

The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack have extended their winning streak to four as they dumped the hometown Brandon University Bobcats 83-76 on "School Day" at the Healthy Living Centre.

Over 12 hundred students were on hand to see the WolfPack get 22 points from Anton Bilous (5th year, guard, Cerkassy, Ukraine) as TRU won its 10 th of the season to go with three defeats.  Brandon falls to 1-12

Other Pack players who had double figure games were Rojhae Colbert (3rd year, forward, Phoenix, AZ)  with 17  and Joe Davis (5th year, forward, Kamloops, BC) with 14.  Colbert also had 10 rebounds.  Davis had seven (five on defense). 

Their big scorer was Shun Williams (2nd year, forward, Kansas City, MO) with 27 points.  He added six steals.  Other Brandon players in double figures were Jaleel Webb  (5th year, guard, Montreal, QC) with 15 points and Anthony Tsegakele (1st year, guard,Gatineau, QC)  with 12.

 SYNOPSIS

The WolfPack got two quick baskets from  Davis  to get the game rolling. He had six in the opening quarter. TRU led 25-18 after the first period led by Bilous with 12.  Brendan Sullivan (2nd year, guard, Mill Bay, BC) had three points for the WolfPack. Sullivan wound up with three points and three steals in the ball game.   Brandon was led by  Williams   with 14 points and two steals.  Dominique Dennis (1st year, guard, Brampton,ON)
had two points and three assists.
 
The WolfPack outscored the Bobcats 20-17 in the second period.   Colbert  picked up his offensive game and had eight points and six rebounds after the first half for TRU.  Williams continued to lead the Brandon offense with 16 points, two steals, two rebounds and an assist going into the break.  Bilous was the top TRU scorer with 14 points.

The third quarter was a run and run affair with Brandon scoring 23 to TRU's 20 to cut the WolfPack lead to 65-58. Brandon cut the Pack lead to only six points in the fourth quarter but back to back dunks by Colbert gave TRU a seven point advantage 78-71.  Brandon outgunned TRU 41-38 in the second half .

UP NEXT:
Thompson Rivers and Brandon will conclude their weekend series tomorrow (Saturday, Jan 18) with a  7 pm CDT tip off.  The WolfPack will move into Victoria next weekend to take on the U Vic Vikes on January 24-25th before returning home for their final regular season contests at the Tournament Capital Centre.
TRU will entertain the Fraser Valley Cascades on  January 31st and February 1st.
