KAMLOOPS – In the lead for most of the night, the Thompson Rivers WolfPack men's basketball team was unable to close out a resilient Fraser Valley Cascades squad in an 81-75 loss on the road Saturday night.
Leading 59-50 entering the final quarter, the WolfPack defence was unable to keep a lid on the Cascades who exploded for 31 points in the final frame which was more than they had scored in the second and third quarters combined.
Fraser Valley went 10-14 from the floor in the final 10 minutes and added another eight points from the charity-stripe to allow them to erase the WolfPack's lead with just over two minutes left to play en route to the victory.
Brendan Sullivan had a monster night for TRU. The third-year guard from Mill Bay, B.C. scored 32 points and added five assists in the game. Asher Maya picked up a double-double with 14 points and ten rebounds.
Kyle Clagget finished with 15 points, nine of which came in that final quarter, for the Cascades while Vick Toor had 14, Zubair Seyed 11 and Jake Willemsen 10.
The result moves both teams to 3-3 on the season. With all 17 Canada West teams qualifying for the playoffs this season, the two are currently tied for third place in the West Division behind the 6-0 UBC Thunderbirds and 5-1 UVic Vikes.
The WolfPack are on a bye next weekend before returning to action on November 26 when they host the Trinity Western Spartans.
