KAMLOOPS – Following an opening weekend that saw them play in two incredibly tight matches, the Thompson Rivers WolfPack men's basketball team will hit the road for the first time in 2021-22 when they head to Prince George for a pair of games with the UNBC Timberwolves.
Playing on Friday night at 8:00 p.m. and Saturday night at 6:00 p.m., the WolfPack will face a team that they already know all too well.
These teams met in the first game of the season last Friday, with the Timberwolves holding off a late WolfPack push in a 69-67 victory.
TRU bounced back in their second game of the weekend with a 30 point, nine rebound effort from
Brendan Sullivan sending the team to a 77-72 victory over the UBC Okanagan Heat.
The Timberwolves meanwhile, took on the Fraser Valley Cascades in yet another game that went right down the wire. UNBC was unable to make it two close road wins to start the season in a 95-93 overtime loss to UFV.
With the two teams playing three regular season games against each other in 2021-22, this weekend will be the final time that the two rivals will meet barring a rematch in the playoffs.
3 Things
1: Both games can be watched live at
The Den. The on-campus eatery is staying open late on Fridays and opening specifically on Saturday so that WolfPack fans have a place to safely gather and watch the games.
The complete schedule of games at The Den can be found here.
2: A rivalry that has seen more than a few nail biters, the WolfPack defeated UNBC 82-78 in overtime in their last CW action in Prince George.
3: All 17 teams in Canada West will make the playoffs this year, with a conference-wide tournament scheduled to take place at the University of Calgary, Lethbridge and Mount Royal University.
