KAMLOOPS – An unexpected rivalry weekend is on the horizon for a Thompson Rivers WolfPack men's basketball team that will play host to the UBC Okanagan Heat on November 26-27.
Originally scheduled to face the Trinity Western Spartans, the WolfPack will now face the Heat after changes to the Canada West schedule due to flooding and subsequent highway closures.
Scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday night and 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, the games will feature a 3-3 WolfPack squad doing battle with an 0-6 Heat team in search of their first win of the season.
Prior to a league-wide bye last weekend, the WolfPack split a pair of games against the UFV Cascades on the road while the Heat were swept by the UBC Thunderbirds in Kelowna.
These teams met during the first weekend of the season when
Brendan Sullivan scored 30 points to send the 'Pack past the Heat in a tight 77-72 affair.
3 Things
1: The WolfPack will celebrate their Holiday Howl on Friday night. There will be donation boxes at the gate collecting non-perishable food items for both the
Kamloops and
TRUSU Food Banks as well as: long underwear, toques, mittens, gently used boots and gently used coats for the
Mustard Seed. Any fans bringing a donation of non-perishable food or winter wear will enter for free.
2: On Saturday the WolfPack men's team will be collecting donations for their annual
Movember fundraising campaign.
3: These will be the final games between the Interior rivals this weekend, with the WolfPack currently holding a 3-1-1 advantage in the
Presidents' Cup standings.
