KAMLOOPS – Struggling to score points for much of the night, the Thompson Rivers WolfPack men's basketball team was outpaced to the tune of 72-44 by the UBC Thunderbirds Friday night.
Playing in Vancouver, a slow start for the WolfPack saw the team trail 21-8 after the opening ten minutes of action and they were unable to bounce back from there. The WolfPack shot under 20 per cent from the floor as a team in the loss to the division-leading Thunderbirds.
Brad King and
Asher Mayan both scored 12 points to lead the way for the 'Pack, with King adding nine rebounds to just miss out on his sixth double-double of the season.
Sukhman Sandhu had an efficient 25 point, 12 rebound effort in 21 minutes of action while James Woods also scored 11 points to pace the hosts.
The WolfPack's best frame came in the second quarter when they outscored the Thunderbirds 15-14. King led the way with eight points but the Thunderbirds made sure to ride out the rest of the game comfortable for the 28-point victory.
The result moves the Thunderbirds to 12-0 on the season while the WolfPack fall to 4-7.
These teams will be back in action tomorrow to wrap up their weekend series with a game at 5 p.m.
