Weekend Story
KAMLOOPS – A shot at taking down one of the top teams in the conference lies ahead for a Thompson Rivers WolfPack men's basketball squad that hosts the UVic Vikes inside the TCC this weekend.
Taking place at 7:30 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday inside the TCC, the games will be pit a 5-9 WolfPack squad against the 12-2 Vikes. With six games remaining on their schedule the 'Pack find themselves in the three-way tie for 11th in the conference, holding the exact same record as the UNBC Timberwolves and Regina Cougars. With just 12 teams making the postseason the battle for the remaining two playoff spots promises to be fierce.
The WolfPack battled tough on the road last weekend, playing a pair of close matches with the UFV Cascades but were unable to bring a victory back to Kamloops in losses of 92-88 and 79-70.
Asher Mayan was spectacular for TRU, scoring a career-high 34 points Friday and adding another 16 on Saturday.
UVic meanwhile, enters the weekend riding high on an eight-game winning streak. Ranked No. 2 in the country, UVic has outscored their opponents by a tally of 799-615 during their winning streak and took care of business against the UNBC Timberwolves last weekend by scores of 98-76 and 129-89.
UVic took all three meetings between the two teams last year.

95.9 – 78.9: The games will be a contrast in styles. UVic leads the conference in scoring with over 95 points-per-game while the WolfPack allow just 78.9 points-per-game, the fourth-best scoring defence in Canada West.
