Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | TRU WolfPack

Harrison sets new career-high as ‘Pack narrowly fall to Heat

QUICK FIRE
  • It was a familiar story for a Thompson Rivers WolfPack men's basketball team that were right with the UBC Okanagan Heat all night before coming up on the wrong end of a 72-65 scoreline in Kelowna.

DIFFERENCE MAKERS
  • Second-year guard Cyrus Harrison went 6-12 from the floor to lead TRU with 21 points. Asher Mayan knocked down four three-pointers en route to 17 points while Daniel Bost added another 10.
  • Gavin Ashworth tallied 19 points for UBCO with Jaylen Shirley chipping in with 16.
  • Despite winning the battle on the glass 43-35, TRU shot just 30 per cent from the floor as a team while the Heat knocked down 43.9 per cent of their attempts.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The WolfPack led 18-13 after the opening ten minutes thanks to eight points from Harrison and seven from Bost.
  • TRU went cold through the middle two quarters however as the Heat outscored TRU 34-22 on either side of the halftime break to lead by seven entering the fourth quarter.
  • That lead was cut to as little as one multiple times – and as late as one minute left to go – but the 'Pack were never able to draw even en route to another close loss.

NOTABLE
  • The loss is the eighth time this season – and third game in a row – that the 'Pack have lost by seven points or less.
  • Harrison's 21 points set a new career-high for the product of Surrey.

UP NEXT
  • The 'Pack will return to Kamloops and get set to host the UNBC Timberwolves next weekend inside the TCC.
