Comeback effort falls shy in OT for WolfPack

QUICK FIRE

DIFFERENCE MAKERS
  • Daniel Bost led the 'Pack with 14 points while Denys Bachurin recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Simon Crossfield was 3-5 from long-range to chip in another 11.
  • Josh Gillespie and Justin Sunga both paced UNBC with 17 points while Evgeny Baukin added 14 points and 10 rebounds.
  • The battle at the charity stripe played a big difference in the contest with UNBC knocking down 18 of their 25 attempts while TRU went just 9-20.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • It was UNBC that rose to the occasion early to take a 13-4 lead after the first quarter as TRU started the game ice-cold from the floor.
  • The 'Pack eked their way back into the game throughout the second and third quarters before things got dramatic late.
  • Trailing by six with just over three minutes left in the game TRU exploded for a 9-1 run capped off by a Crossfield three pointer that gave the 'Pack their first lead of the game with 1:52 left to play. A Bachurin three-pointer gave TRU a 54-52 lead in the final minute of play, but a Baukin jumper knotted the game up and sent the teams to overtime.
  • In the extra frame it was TRU's turn to start hot. Bachurin scored the first five points of overtime. Sunga refused to let the game slip away from the Timberwolves however as he tallied 11 points in overtime including a three-point dagger with 17 seconds left to allow the visitors to escape with the victory.
