Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | TRU WolfPack

WolfPack can’t overcome hot-shooting Spartans

QUICK FIRE
  • The host TWU Spartans shot the lights out Friday night en route to an 84-63 victory over the Thompson Rivers WolfPack men's basketball team Friday night.

DIFFERENCE MAKERS
  • Asher Mayan led the 'Pack with 17 points as well as five rebounds and five assists. Denys Bachurin added 12 points of his own while Steve Stinson finished with ten points and two steals.
  • Jerric Palma was 6-10 from beyond-the-arc en route to a game-high 25 points with Marcus Shankar adding a further 17 and four assists for the Spartans.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • TWU started the night as hot as can be. The hosts went 10-14 from three-point range in the first 20 minutes of the game to take a commanding 49-28 lead into the halftime break.
  • Mayan went 3-4 from long-range himself in the third quarter to score nine points and help the 'Pack start to climb back into the game.
  • Stinson and rookie Jack Clayton both knocked down a pair of field goals in the fourth but it was too little too late for a TRU team that fell by 21 points.
NOTABLE
  • The loss drops TRU to 3-4 while the Spartans move to 2-5.
  • A product of Semiahmoo, Clayton scored the first points of his Canada West career in the game.
  • The Spartans shot over 51 per cent from three as a team in the game.

UP NEXT
  • The WolfPack will get the chance for payback tomorrow evening in Langley in a game that starts at 6:00 p.m.
