Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | TRU WolfPack

Harrison powers ‘Pack to victory over Cascades

QUICK FIRE
  • Third-year forward Cyrus Harrison poured in 25 points to power the way for the Thompson Rivers WolfPack men's basketball team to pick up an 83-74 victory over the UFV Cascades in Abbotsford Saturday night.
DIFFERENCE MAKERS
  • A product of Surrey, Harrison was 11-18 from the floor en route to his 25 points while also grabbing a team-high seven rebounds. Simon Crossfield was again key off the bench with 15 points, five rebounds, four assists and two block. Asher Mayan, Dami Farinloye and Erin Chamble all added ten points apiece for the 'Pack.
  • Chris Jackson led the way with 14 points for UFV. Clay Kurtz and Jake Willemsen contributed 12 and 10 points each.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The WolfPack shot the lights out in the first quarter to snag a 21-17 advantage. An 8-0 run to end the frame for TRU was capped off with a deep three from Farinloye.
  • After the second quarter did nothing to sway the score one way or another, the WolfPack were able to narrowly increase their lead in the third quarter. Six points in the frame from Harrison saw the WolfPack lead by as many as ten before UFV rallied to cut the lead to just 63-58 in favour of the 'Pack heading into the final quarter.
  • TRU took care of business in the fourth. UFV cut the lead to five points early in the quarter but seven points from Harrison and five from Mayan allowed the 'Pack to see the game out.
NOTABLE
  • The win was an important one for a WolfPack squad that now sits at 6-6 on the season and in sole possession of third place in the Pacific Division.
  • Harrison's 25 points were a new career-best for him in conference play.
  • TRU shot 51.7 per cent from the floor as a team.
  • The WolfPack held the lead for over 35 minutes of the 40 minute contest.

UP NEXT
  • TRU returns to Kamloops for a pair of home games next week. First up, they take on the TWU Spartans on Thursday night before welcoming the UVic Vikes on Saturday.
