Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | TRU WolfPack

TRU keeps pace with No. 3 UBC before fading late

QUICK FIRE
  • The Thompson Rivers WolfPack men's basketball team trailed by just five points early in the fourth quarter but were unable to pull off the upset in an 81-61 loss at the hands of the No. 3 ranked UBC Thunderbirds in Vancouver.
DIFFERENCE MAKERS
  • Dami Farinloye scored 15 points and added four steals as the product of Winnipeg, MB continued his great first year with the 'Pack. Cyrus Harrison added ten points of his own while Simon Crossfield contributed nine points and eight rebounds.
  • Adam Olsen was the story for UBC as he went 8-15 from the floor to score 27 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Trailing 29-15 early in the second quarter, the WolfPack rallied. TRU ripped off an 11-0 run during which Erin Chamble poured in five points as the 'Pack trimmed that lead to just 29-26.
  • It was more of the same in the second half. The Thunderbirds jumped out to a 50-33 edge before the WolfPack ended the third quarter on a 14-5 run capped off by a Crossfield buzzer beater to cut the lead to just eight heading into the fourth quarter.
  • A three-pointer from Asher Mayan with eight minutes left to play made the score just 57-52 in favour of UBC but that was as close as TRU would come. The Thunderbirds pulled away down the stretch for the 20-point victory.
NOTABLE
  • The loss drops the WolfPack to a record of 5-6 on the season. They are tied with the UFV Cascades for third place in the Pacific Division.
