Weekend Story
KAMLOOPS – One last weekend inside the TCC is ahead for a Thompson Rivers WolfPack men's volleyball team that will host the Alberta Golden Bears for a pair of important games as they continue to battle for postseason spot.
Facing the Bears at 7:15 p.m. on Friday and 4:45 p.m. on Saturday, the WolfPack will be looking to improve their playoff chances while also honouring a quartet of graduating student-athletes.
The WolfPack (6-10) are coming off a weekend sweep in their last action as they earned back-to-back victories of 3-0 and 3-1 over the UFV Cascades.
Rylan Ibbetson was named the WolfPack Athlete of the Week for recording 33 kills in just seven sets en route to career kill 700 – just the sixth player in program history to reach that mark.
Prior to the game on Friday night the WolfPack will honour graduating student-athletes:
Rylan Ibbetson,
Tyson Koop,
Mason Sodaro and
Owen Waterhouse. All four graduates have left an indelible mark on the program, the university and the greater Kamloops community.
Alberta (9-5) split a pair of games with the Winnipeg Wesmen in their last action. The Bears are 1-3 in the second semester.
The WolfPack won the most recent match that the teams played, defeating Alberta by a score of 3-2 back in October of 2023.
