The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack women's basketball team have one goal in mind as they close out their 2019-20 Canada West regular season this weekend. And that is to earn a victory in order to achieve one of their team goals: a post season berth.
The WolfPack (7-11) are flying and then busing to Lethbridge, Alberta for the first time in over five years to meet the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns (9-9). The teams will do battle Friday (Feb 7) and Saturday (Feb 8) Game times are: 6 PM MDT and 5 PM MDT respectively.
The Pronghorns are coming off a sweep of the MacEwan Griffins last weekend in Edmonton, Alberta. The WolfPack were beaten twice at home by the University of Fraser Valley Cascades. Thompson Rivers is sitting in a four game losing streak while Lethbridge has won their last three starts.
HISTORY
The WolfPack have a 2-3 record lifetime against Lethbridge. They haven't played the Pronghorns since November 18, 2017 when the teams did battle at the Tournament Capital Centre. Lethbridge won 79-59. TRU outscored Lethbridge 18-13 in the second quarter and were down 33-30 at the half. Kacie Bosch had 19 points for the 'Horns while Kathryn Harkins had 13 points coming off the bench. Shenise Sigsworth (Kamloops, BC) had 12 points for the WolfPack. The night previous (Nov 17), Lethbridge won 73-53. TRU outscored Lethbridge 16-14 in the fourth quarter that night and were led by
Michelle Bos (Surrey, BC) with 12 points. Bosch and Harkins had 14 points a piece for Lethbridge. Harkins scored her points coming off the bench for the second straight night.
The teams are .500 playing in Southern Alberta. The last time they met in Lethbridge was November 23, 2013 where the WolfPack were winners 66-64. Kassie Colonna (Invermere,BC) was the leading scorer for the WolfPack with 15 points that night. Taiysa Worsfold (Kamloops, BC) and Sarah Malate (Calgary, AB) contributed 14 points for TRU.
The only other game the teams played in Lethbridge wa November 11, 2011 where the Pronghorns were winners 63-61. Jen Ju (Vancouver, BC) paced Thompson Rivers with 16 points. Diane Schuetze (Vernon, BC) and Michele Dimond (Port Moody, BC) had 12 points a piece as well for the Pack.

Leilani Carney (5
th year, guard, Burnaby, BC): leads the Pack in scoring (12.4 points per game) and in minutes played (34.2)
Emma Piggin (5
th year, guard, Kamloops, BC): sits second in team scoring (12.4 points) and in minutes played (29.8). She leads in rebounding (6.7) tied for first in steals (1.5) and blocks (0.5) and second in assists/turn over ratio (0.7). She led the team in scoring last Saturday (a 91-75 loss at home to UFV) with 19 points.
Jordon Haggerty (3
rd year, guard, Saskatoon, SK): third in team scoring averaging 10.8 points. She is tied for the lead in assist/turnover ratio (0.9) playing 22.4 minutes per game.
Megan Rouault (3
rd year, guard, Vernon, BC): fourth on the Pack in minutes played (24.9). She is second in rebounds (4.3), tied for the lead in assist/turnover ratio (0.9), steals (1.5) and blocks (0.9).
Jordin Wilkinson (4
th year, forward, North Battleford, SK): fourth in team scoring (7.6 per game), averages 26.4 minutes (third on the team). Leads the team in three point shooting (1.5-5.9 per game)
Lethbridge:
Kacie Bosch (5
th year, guard, Lethbridge, AB) : tied for the team lead in scoring (15.9 points per game), leads the team in minutes (32.4) as she has started all 18 games this season. She is second in rebounds (7.3) and leads the team in steals (2.8) per game.
Asnate Fomina (5
th year, guard, Marupe, Latvia): tied for the team scoring lead (15.9), fourth in minutes (28.9), second on the team in steals (1.8). She has only played eight regular season games, starting in seven of them. She and Bosch led the 'Horns in scoring last Saturday in an 82-53 win over MacEwan. Each had 20 points.
Jessica Haenni ( 3
rd year, guard, Millet, AB): started 14 of the teams 18 games. Third in team scoring (11.9 per game) and averages 29.2 minutes (third on team). She led Lethbridge last Saturday in a 69-54 win over MacEwan with 20 points.
Amy Mazutinec (3
rd year, forward, Stirling, AB) : third on the Pronghorns in rebounds (6.5), leads in blocks (0.6) and averages 28.3 minutes (fifth on team).
