KAMLOOPS – For the fourth season in a row the Thompson Rivers WolfPack men's soccer team will see postseason action when they head to Calgary to face the Mount Royal Cougars in a Canada West quarter-final match this weekend.
Taking on the Cougars on Saturday at noon, a win would send the WolfPack to a third Canada West final four in program history.
Sitting near the top of the West division throughout most of the season, the WolfPack finished the regular season with a record of 4-3-5, a mark that earned them the fourth and final playoff spot in their division. Most recently the 'Pack travelled to Prince George where they picked up a 1-0 win over the UNBC Timberwolves on Saturday before falling 1-0 on Sunday.
In front of them this weekend is a Cougars team that finished atop the Central division with a mark of 6-1-3. Mount Royal enters the playoffs on five game winning streak including a 2-0 victory over the Lethbridge Pronghorns last weekend.
There is plenty of recent history between the two teams.
Mount Royal picked up a 1-0 win over the 'Pack earlier this year in preseason play and in 2019 the Cougars ended TRU's season with a 2-1 victory in the quarter-finals.
3 Things
1: The game can be watched live at
The Den. The on-campus eatery is opening specifically on Saturday so that WolfPack fans have a place to safely gather and watch the games.
2: In three trips to the Canada West playoffs the 'Pack hold a record of 4-3.
3: The WolfPack are one of just two West division teams to qualify for the playoffs in each of the last four seasons alongside the UBC Thunderbirds
By the Numbers
10 – One of the stingiest defences in the league, the WolfPack surrendered just 10 goals through their 12 regular season games and only once allowed more than one in a game.
27 – Mount Royal features the most prolific offence in the conference. The Cougars have scored 27 times through their 10 games, including a 12-3 victory over the MacEwan Griffins.
1-2-1 – The WolfPack hold a record of 1-2-1 vs. the Cougars in Canada West play. TRU's lone victory came at home with both losses coming on the road in Calgary.
