Weekend Story

KAMLOOPS – For the first time since 2023, the Thompson Rivers WolfPack men's soccer team will play in the Canada West postseason this weekend when they travel to Calgary for potentially a pair of games.

Facing the Prairie Division No. 1 seed Calgary Dinos (9-3-2) in a quarter-final match on Friday at 3:00 p.m. pt, a win would move the WolfPack (7-7-1) to a conference semifinal match taking place in Calgary on Sunday, Nov. 1 at noon pt.

TRU clinched their spot in the playoffs last weekend when they defeated the UBCO Heat by a score of 3-1 on Friday. James Rainbird was named the WolfPack Athlete of the Week after tallying two assists in that victory over the Heat.

Calgary enters the playoffs having played just one game last weekend. They tied the Mount Royal Cougars in their final action of the regular season

The two teams have met just six times in Canada West play. The last time they met in Calgary was the 2024 season when the two squads played to a 1-1 tie.

This is a return to the postseason for the WolfPack for the first time since 2023. In total they have qualified for the CW postseason seven times in the last nine seasons.

Awaiting the winner of TRU and Calgary is either the Pacific No. 2 seed UFV Cascades (8-3-5) or the Prairie No. 3 Alberta Golden Bears (5-4-5)
