KAMLOOPS – In search of their first conference win of the season, the Thompson Rivers WolfPack women's basketball team is set to face the UBC Okanagan Heat at home on November 26-27.
Originally scheduled to play the Trinity Western Spartans, the WolfPack will now take on the Heat after changes to the Canada West schedule due to heavy rainfall and subsequent highway closures.
Scheduled for 5:00 p.m. on Friday night and 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, the games will feature an 0-6 WolfPack squad in search of their first win of the season and a 3-3 Heat team off to a strong start.
On a bye last weekend, the WolfPack were last in action two weekends ago when they dropped a pair of games to the Fraser Valley Cascades in Abbotsford. UBCO meanwhile, earned a split in two incredibly close matches with the UBC Thunderbirds. The Heat won 64-63 before falling 63-61.
These teams met during the first weekend of the season when the Heat squeaked out a tight 87-68 victory.
Maggie Fehr,
Elana Sireni and
Kyla Smith all scored 12 points in the loss.
3 Things
1: The WolfPack will celebrate their Holiday Howl on Friday night. There will be donation boxes at the gate collecting non-perishable food items for both the
Kamloops and
TRUSU Food Banks as well as: long underwear, toques, mittens, gently used boots and gently used coats for the
Mustard Seed. Any fans bringing a donation of non-perishable food or winter wear will enter for free.
2: These will be the final games between the Interior rivals this weekend. The WolfPack currently trail UBCO in the
Presidents' Cup standings by a tally of 0-3-2 after results in basketball, soccer and volleyball.
3: While the WolfPack are still looking for their first win of the Canada West season, their nine point loss to the Heat is tied for their closest result so far.
By the Numbers
71% – 229 of the WolfPack's 321 points this season have come from players in their first year of eligibility.
