Weekend Story
KAMLOOPS – There will be a new face at the helm for the Thompson Rivers WolfPack women's basketball team when they start their 2022-23 season in Winnipeg this weekend.
Todd Warnick becomes the fourth coach to lead the 'Pack at the Canada West level after coaching at the collegiate level for over 20 seasons. Most recently a 2021-22 CCAA National Champion with the NAIT Ooks, Warnick has also spent time coaching Concordia University of Edmonton and Vancouver Island University.
TRU returns much of the same roster from their 2021-22 squad. 10 student-athletes in their second year of eligibility make up the bulk of a roster that also features veteran
Megan Rouault as the lone fifth year.
The 'Pack will be looking to buck the expectations of coaches across the conference after they were pegged to finish 17th in the preseason Coaches Poll.
Up first for TRU is a Winnipeg Wesmen squad that made it all the way to the U SPORTS National Championship game last season. Winnipeg went 14-2 in the regular season before embarking upon a postseason run that came up just short in a 70-48 loss to the TMU Bold.

In just her first year of Canada West action
Jessica Orr proved herself to be an offensive threat in 2021-22. The sharpshooter from Kamloops led the team in scoring while showing off deadly range from deep. Now in her second year with the 'Pack, Orr will be counted on to help provide the scoring punch for a young WolfPack roster that sees new head coach Todd Warnick take the helm.
