Weekend Story

KAMLOOPS – Riding high off an outstanding weekend, the Thompson Rivers WolfPack women's basketball team are back in the TCC and ready to battle.

Taking on the Regina Cougars at 5:30 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday, the 'Pack will be trying to pick up their third-consecutive victory in CW play for the first time since 2017.

The games will pit the 2-2 WolfPack with a Cougars squad that is searching for their first victory of the season.

TRU had their most successful road weekend since the 2017-18 season last time out in Brandon. The squad picked up their first weekend sweep since 2019 and first road sweep since 2017 with wins of 77-72 and 70-54.

After starting their season with a bye, Regina went on the road last weekend and fell twice in a pair of games with the TWU Spartans by scores of 64-55 and 66-52.

These two teams haven't met in CW play since the 2018-19 season.

3 Things

1: There will be hot food and a beer garden served up inside the TCC all season long.

2: Friday night's game will be Hometown Heroes Night inside the TCC: Kamloops Fire Rescue, Interior Health employees, Emergency Support Services, Housing & Homeless Support workers, Paramedics and First Aid attendants, BC Wildfire Service, Community Services Officers, members of the RCMP, School District No. 73 employees as well as the 2035 Rocky Mountain Rangers will all have free entry to the game.

3: All high school student-athletes in Kamloops and Merritt have a High School All-Access Pass that allows them free entry to every WolfPack game this season.

By the Numbers

32 & 24: Rookie Kate De La Mare was incredibly impactful for the 'Pack last weekend with 32 points and 24 rebounds while going 10-11 from the floor.

1: TRU won the first game these teams played at the CW level back in 2005 but are 0-14 against Regina since then.

10: TRU is averaging 63.5 points-per-game this season a full 10 more than Regina's 53.5.
