KAMLOOPS – A player with many ties to the WolfPack will be joining men's basketball for the 2023-24 season after head coach
Chad Jacobson announced that Paolo Murphy has committed to the 'Pack.
A 6-6 forward out of Vancouver, Murphy comes to Kamloops by way of Sir Winston Churchill Secondary and Split Second Basketball.
"We are really excited to add Paolo to the WolfPack men's basketball program for the upcoming season," said Jacobson. "Paolo adds excellent size and length at his position and is a skilled player who is both a very capable shooter and passer."
While at Split Second Basketball, Murphy has been coached by both former members of the 'Pack Kevin Pribilsky and Eric D'Andrea. Current member of the team
Simon Crossfield is also a graduate of the program.
A high-achiever in the classroom, Murphy maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout his time at high school and plans to major in marketing at TRU.
"Academically I really appreciate how TRU prioritizes student education first and its beautiful outdoor campus," said Murphy. "The Wolfpack's young team as well as the culture within it are really important to me and a huge draw."
Named the athlete of the year at Sir Winston Churchill, Murphy is a versatile addition to the 'Pack on the court.
I see myself bringing versatility and communication on the defensive end to the team," said Murphy. "Offensively I hope to stretch the floor and facilitate my teammates."
Murphy becomes the third member of Jacobson's inaugural recruiting class with TRU, joining
Josh Mayan and
Jason Okoro.
"Paolo is very eager and shows the desire to work and to want to learn and develop as a basketball player. I know he will be a great fit within our locker room and our program," said Jacobson.
