Kamloops – There will be a Kamloops flair to the Thompson Rivers WolfPack women's volleyball team this season after Hailey Ward committed to the 'Pack.
 
"I am excited to add Hail to our group and have known her for several years as a Kamloops athlete coming through our system," said WolfPack head coach Chad Grimm. "Hail has always been a hard worker, great teammate and responsible athlete that is focused on getting better each day."
 
A 6-2 outside hitter, Ward  has also earned recognition at the provincial level.
 
"I am thrilled and humbled to have the opportunity to play for the WolfPack and receive coaching from Chad Grimm," said Ward.

Alongside suiting up for the Kamloops Volleyball Association at the club level, Ward represented Team B.C. last Summer and earned a role as captain with the provincial squad.
 
"This speaks to not only her level as a player, but also her character as a person," said Grimm of Ward's role as Captain. 
 
Playing high-level volleyball since the age of 12, Ward credits former UCC Sun Demon standout Ashley Lowndes (Shannik) with helping her earn a spot with the 'Pack.

"I'm grateful for the guidance of my mentor, Ashley Lowndes, who has helped shape me into the player I am today," said Ward. "I'm looking forward to the challenge and the chance to represent my community on the court."

Ward, who also shone with Jr. Heat volleyball club, plans on pursuing a degree in nursing at TRU.

"I am happy Hail will be able to continue her growth as a student athlete at TRU," said Grimm.

Ward becomes the lone Kamloops player on the roster with her commitment and takes the reins as a local standout with TRU from Katie Ludvig who graduated after an outstanding five year career in 2022.
