Women's Volleyball TRU WolfPack

Provincial MVP McGregor commits to women's volleyball

COACH CHAD GRIMM

"Hannah is explosive, has a really good arm and can score points. She has played both right side and left side and is good from both wings so she is diverse. She's also a former middle blocker that transitioned to outside, so I think that part of her game is largely untapped and she has a lot of potential."

"Hannah is from Brandon but moved to Saskatoon for club volleyball so obviously it's never an easy transition to the university level but I do think that will give her a leg up as far as having experience being away from home and what that looks like."

"She got a chance to come and check things out. I try to let recruits spend as much time with the team as possible so that they can ask questions when the coach isn't there to get some honest opinions, because at the end of the day I want student-athletes that want to be here. She got a good feel for what things are like and it seemed to be a great match in terms of girls on the teams, what her role could be as well as academically so everything seemed to work out well and I'm looking forward to having her on campus."

"I chose TRU because it offers a solid education and a supportive environment where I can grow and find myself. The coaches are really encouraging, and the competition pushes me to work harder, to stay focused on my goals."

"I started playing volleyball when I was 12 back in my hometown, Brandon. Honestly, I wasn't very athletic at first, but things changed when I began training seriously, especially at Young's Fitness in Calgary. That's really when I started to improve and develop a deeper love for the sport."

"I would say my first big competitive year was with the Jr. Bisons at  U15. It was challenging, coming from a smaller city and having to drive two hours to a bigger city for practices and games. Playing at such a high level at a young age was tough, but the hard work paid off when we ended the season placing third at nationals. That summer, I continued to build on that experience by playing on the Red and White Canada teams back to back, which helped me grow even more as a player. Representing my school was probably one of my favourite experiences. Winning provincials two years in a row and being named an All-Star in my first year, then MVP and the number one player in the province, the following year. I played with pride and loved being part of the team, I really valued all my teammates and the bond we shared."

"Last season, I played two years up, and I enjoyed that since I got to be able to look up to the older girls I played against. By doing so, it challenged me everyday to be better. This year, I moved to Saskatoon to play volleyball with the Huskies because I really wanted a team that could push me and have such an amazing coaching staff. But honestly, none of this would have been possible without my parents pushing me and all the support I've had along the way. I truly love volleyball, and I don't know where I'd be without it. I'm really excited that TRU is the next chapter in my journey."

"When I first visited TRU, I was a bit shy because I didn't know any of the girls, but everyone was so positive and welcoming, I felt really comfortable right away. Chad put a lot of effort into making my visit enjoyable, showing me around and making sure I had fun. The campus itself was really nice, and knowing academics were key was also very important to me. The girls were super supportive and friendly, it honestly felt like home.  The values of the team and how close-knit everyone is, really stood out to me. It just felt like the right fit, a place where I could grow, be challenged, and be part of something special. That's why I knew the WolfPack and TRU were the best fit for me."
