Weekend Story

KAMLOOPS – A busy weekend is on tap for a Thompson Rivers WolfPack women's basketball team that hosts the UNBC Timberwolves inside the TCC.

Taking place at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and 5:30 p.m. Saturday, the contests are the first at home for TRU since early January.

Friday night will feature the team's annual Shoot For The Cure game as the team helps schools across Canada raise funds for the Canadian Cancer Society. The 'Pack will direct people towards a nation-wide online auction for this wishing to donate this year.

Saturday's game will see the team honour former members of the 'Pack. TRU has invited back all women's basketball alumni from their U SPORTS era for free admission to the game as well as a social taking place after the game in the WolfPack offices.

TRU fought hard but fell in a pair of games to the UBC Okanagan Heat last weekend. The Heat won big Friday but TRU was down just two possessions late in the game Saturday before falling 68-55.

The Timberwolves come into the weekend off the backs of a pair of losses to the UBC Thunderbirds. UNBC is currently on a ten-game skid in CW play.

These teams split a pair of games in Prince George last season.

By the Numbers

14-11: TRU holds a 14-11 record against UNBC in CW play, including an 8-3 mark at home.

7.9: Rookie Kate De La Mare is on pace to finish second in the program's rookie history books with 7.9 rebounds-per-game.

2: The games are extremely important with both TRU and UNBC currently just two games out of a CW playoff spot.
