Weekend Story
KAMLOOPS – The Thompson Rivers WolfPack women's basketball team is set for a return to action this weekend when they host the Fraser Valley Cascades inside the TCC.
Taking place at 5:30 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday, the contests are the first of the second semester and the third home weekend of the season for TRU.
The games will pit the 2-4 WolfPack with a Fraser Valley squad that is flying high at 7-1 and ranked No. 8 in the country.
TRU was last in Canada West action back on November 17-18 when they fell in a pair of hard-fought games with the Regina Cougars. The 'Pack did play one exhibition game over the winter break and came out on the wrong end of an 88-53 score-line with the Trinity Western Spartans.
While the Cascades enter the weekend with a record of 7-1, they did taste defeat in their last Canada West game of the first semester at the hands of the Regina Cougars. Like TRU, UFV played one exhibition game over the break when they took care of the UBC Thunderbirds 71-41.
Fraser Valley won both games these teams played last season.
3 Things
1: There will be hot food and a beer garden served up inside the TCC all season long.
2: Halftime action will be non-stop in the TCC this weekend with soccer freestyler Julian Muckle providing the entertainment Friday before a group of Ukrainian dancers take centre stage Saturday.
3: All high school student-athletes in Kamloops and Merritt have a High School All-Access Pass that allows them free entry to every WolfPack game this season.
By the Numbers
