Weekend Story

KAMLOOPS – The Thompson Rivers WolfPack women's basketball team will play their final regular season games of 2024 this weekend when they welcome the Saskatchewan Huskies to the TCC.

Taking on the Huskies (4-2) at 5:30 p.m. on Friday and 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, the 'Pack (0-8) will be taking on a squad that captured the Canada West championship and made it all the way to U SPORTS Championship final last season.

TRU went toe-to-toe with the TWU Spartans last weekend. The 'Pack nearly erased a 30-point halftime deficit Friday but ultimately fell on both Friday and Saturday. Danijela Kovacevic led TRU in scoring both nights, recording 15 and 13 points in the two games.

Saskatchewan is coming off a bye week. After falling in their first two contests to start the season, the Huskies have rattled off four-straight wins, including back-to-back victories of 75-50 and 76-49 over the No. 5 ranked Alberta Pandas last weekend.

The two teams last played in the 2022-23 season with Saskatchewan securing the sweep in Saskatoon.

2: After the game Friday night, the WolfPack will honour long-time Athletic Director Ken Olynyk for his induction to the Canada West Hall of Fame.

3: Papa Murphy's will be serving up pizza inside the TCC all season long.
