KAMLOOPS – Bringing with him experience playing for his country, Lucas Kirnon is the latest addition to the Thompson Rivers WolfPack men's soccer team after head coach John Antulov announced that he has committed to the 'Pack.
 
A defender from Preston, England, Kirnon has represented the Caribbean nation of Montserrat at the senior level while spending his club career playing in the academies of renowned teams Preston North End and Salford City.
 
"He's going to be a guy that really is going to be able to get up and down the field and join in the attack," said WolfPack head coach John Antulov. "He's got excellent vision crossing the ball, can play the ball with both feet and also play the centre back position. He just has a lot of different tools in his toolkit to be able to make an impact for our team."
 
Earning eight senior appearances for Montserrat, Kirnon joins fellow Prestonian Ben Finley in committing to the WolfPack.
 
"I chose to join TRU after speaking with the manager, John ,who explained what life was like at TRU and from that I knew TRU was where I wanted to go," said Kirnon "I like that I have the opportunity to continue playing football at the same time as studying a degree."
 
Playing an important role in Kirnon making the decision to come to the TRU was Rebirth Soccer, who helps connect players from abroad with university coaches in North America. Antulov credits their work in helping to add Kirnon to the squad. 
 
"Working with Rebirth and their ability to connect us with players that are high quality kids and are going to fit well into everything that we do has been great - so that partnership is proving very fruitful," said Antulov.
 
Planning on studying business administration at TRU, Kirnon describes himself as a composed defender that enjoys being on the ball and getting forward in attack.
 
"Lucas is definitely going to have an immediate impact on our squad," said Antulov. "He has a great pedigree, has played at a very high level and is really going to help us take that next step."
