Weekend Story
KAMLOOPS – Hard to believe but the second to last home weekend of the season is here for a Thompson Rivers WolfPack women's basketball team that will play a rare Thursday – Saturday schedule.
Taking on the TWU Spartans (6-5) on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. and the UVic Vikes (5-5) on Saturday at 4:00 p.m., a young WolfPack squad will be searching for their first win of the season.
On Thursday night the 'Pack will be celebrating their annual Shoot for the Cure game. An annual initiative across U SPORTS women's basketball teams, the team will be collecting cash donations at the game in support of the Canadian Cancer Society.
TRU had a tough start to the second semester last weekend, going up against the top two teams in their division in the form of the UBC Thunderbirds and UFV Cascades.
Trinity Western and UVic played a pair of games against each other in Victoria with TWU earning a 68-60 win on Friday before the Vikes rebounded to earn a 71-63 victory on Saturday.
The WolfPack came close to defeating TWU earlier in the season. The 'Pack outscored the Spartans 33-14 in the second half as they narrowly fell by a score of 57-46.
Saturday night's game will be the first time this season that the 'Pack meet the Vikes. The last time the two teams played UVic secured a 70-41 victory in the final game of the 2023-24 regular season.
