Weekend Story
KAMLOOPS – The Thompson Rivers WolfPack men's soccer team are set to play the final regular season games of their 2025 season this coming weekend, with a pair of contests scheduled inside Hillside Stadium.
Taking on the TWU Spartans (Saturday, Oct. 18) and UFV Cascades (Sunday, Oct. 19) with both games getting underway at noon, the 'Pack will be battling to qualify for the Canada West postseason for the seventh time in the past eight seasons.
A sweep over the UBCO Okanagan Heat (2-1 win on Friday and 3-1 on Saturday) last weekend have put the 'Pack into a position where their season will come right down to the wire.
With the standings being determined by winning percentage due to the teams in the Canada West Pacific Division playing an unequal amount of games, the possible scenarios that could unfold this weekend are too many to list, for the WolfPack the one clear thing is that they must win both of their final two games. TRU (3-10-1 .238 W%) is chasing down both the UNBC Timberwolves (4-7-2 .359 W%) and the TWU Spartans (4-6-3 .385 W%) and there is the possibility that even if TRU wins both the outcome will be determined by
conference tie-breakers.
First up for the 'Pack is a TWU team that is coming into the weekend on a high after they earned four points with a 3-2 win and 0-0 tie against UFV in their last action.
While UFV (6-3-4) were on the flipside of those results against TWU, the Cascades are in the midst of one of the better seasons in program history and will be keen to secure third place in the division.
TRU fell to both TWU and UFV earlier this season on the road. They are 3-1 in their last four games against the Spartans in Kamloops and 1-1-2 in the same time span inside Hillside Stadium against the Cascades.
3 Things
1: While these will be the final regular season games of the season for the 'Pack, TRU has no graduating student-athletes on the roster.
2: Ben Finley scored two goals and added an assist for the WolfPack last weekend, leading the product of Preston, ENG to be named the WolfPack Athlete of the Week.
3: Fryer's Express will be serving up food at both games this weekend.
