Weekend Story

KAMLOOPS – Three long weekends since their last home action, the Thompson Rivers WolfPack men's soccer team will finally be back at Hillside this weekend as they get set for a rivalry clash.

Taking on the UBC Okanagan Heat on both Friday and Saturday, kickoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. both nights.

TRU is back in action for the first time since September 27 after having a bye last week. The Heat are coming off a split with the UNBC Timberwolves last weekend. UBCO picked up their first win of the season with a 3-2 victory Saturday before falling 3-0 to UNBC on Sunday.

The two games will serve as the first Presidents' Cup clashes of the season. The Presidents' Cup is an annual competition between TRU and UBCO that awards points for victories in the games that two schools play against each other in soccer, basketball and volleyball. TRU has captured the last two editions of the men's Presidents' Cup and nine of the last 11 since the competition resumed in 2013-14.

The 'Pack hold a historical record of 9-5-7 against UBCO in Canada West play and are 5-2-1 against the Heat at Hillside.

3 Things

1: Friday night will be Puppies & Pints at Hillside with dogs welcome to join in the stands to take in the action. Both the Kamloops Ruff Start Rescue Society and the TRU Veterinary Technology program will have booths at the game. There will also be a dog race at halftime and more to keep your furry best friend happy at the game.

2: With the U17 Boys and Girls National Soccer Championships in town, the 'Pack are excited to offer all teams attending free entry to both WolfPack games this weekend.

3: Fryer's Express will be serving up food at both games this weekend while the Kamloops Sports Council runs the beer garden
