Weekend Story
For the second week in a row the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack women's basketball team will get the chance to play on home court as they get set for a weekend in the TCC.
Taking on the UVic Vikes at 5:30 p.m. on Friday and 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, TRU will be looking to get back on track.
The WolfPack (2-5) were also at home last weekend and fell in a pair of games to the TWU Spartans. Kamloops local
Kylee Koppes led the way Friday night with 13 points while Ukrainian import
Olena Vasylenko poured in 21 on Saturday.
UVic (3-4) are also coming into the weekend of the backs of a pair of losses. The Vikes played a double-header with the Regina Cougars, falling 63-54 on Friday and 70-67 in the second.
While Victoria won all three games that these teams played last season, the last two came down to the wire with scores of 43-40 and 80-78 in overtime.
3 Things
1: Fryer's Express will be serving up hot food inside the TCC all year long.
2: Friday night is TRU Faculty and Staff Night. All TRU faculty, staff and their families get free entry to the game.
3: TRU is searching for their first win over UVic since defeating them in a Canada West playoff game in February of 2015.
By The Numbers
10.6 & 9.9: TRU's
Morgan Eichenberger leads the conference with 10.6 rebounds per game. Victoria's Mimi Sigue is right behind Eichenberger with a clip of 9.9 rebounds per game.
65.9 & 59.1: The games promise to be a clash in styles. UVic likes to push the pace and is sixth in the conference with 65.9 points per game while TRU is eighth in Canada West defensively, allowing just 59.1 points per game.
10.7 & 10.6: Eichenberger, a second-year forward from St. Ann's Academy, is averaging a double-double this season.
