Season Story
KAMLOOPS – Fans of the Thompson Rivers WolfPack men's soccer team will get their first chance to cheer on the 'Pack at Hillside Stadium this weekend when TRU kicks off their home slate with a pair of games.
Taking on the reigning national champion UBC Thunderbirds on Friday at 7:30 p.m. and the UVic Vikes on Saturday at 7:30 p.m., the games will pit the 'Pack against the two teams that were picked number one (UBC) and number two (UVic) in the CW Coaches' Poll.
It'll be a new-look roster for the WolfPack this season with 18 additions to the squad from the 2024 campaign. A young squad, the team features just four players in their third or fourth year of eligibility.
The WolfPack suffered a pair of incredibly close losses to start their season last weekend. Falling 2-1 on both Friday and Sunday to the UNBC Timberwolves in Prince George, the 'Pack were unlucky not to come back to Kamloops with better results after more than holding their own on the field.
Abdel Coulibaly and
Lachlan Will both tallied for TRU over the weekend.
UBC meanwhile, started their season with back-to-back 2-1 victories over the UFV Cascades and TWU Spartans last weekend.
While the 'Pack lost both games they played against UBC last year, they are 2-2-2 against the T-Birds in Kamloops since 2021.
Like UBC, UVic had a strong start to their year as they defeated the TWU Spartans 3-1 and tied with the UFV Cascades 1-1.
WOLFPACK 2025 SEASON PREVIEW
Key Performer
Domenico Comita, Midfield, 4th year, Kamloops, BC
A leader for the 'Pack on and off the field, Comita will be relied upon to provide a veteran presence as the lone returning player on the squad in his fourth year of eligibility. Able to play both defence and in midfield, he is a solid defender that organizes the WolfPack's backline while starting the attack with impressive passing. The lone player remaining on the team from the WolfPack's 2022 U SPORTS National Championship winning season, the Kamloops local secured that victory in front of his hometown crowd with the shootout-winning goal.
Key Additions
Lewis Crompton / midfield / 1st year / Melbourne, AUS / Northcote City
Ben Finley / forward / 1st year / Preston, ENG / Salford City
Amir Ghasemi / midfield / 1st year / Coquitlam, B.C. / Langley United
