Season Story

KAMLOOPS – After four-straight weekends without a game on home soil, the Thompson Rivers WolfPack men's soccer team will be back inside the friendly confines of Hillside Stadium this coming weekend.

Facing the Lethbridge Pronghorns on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. it will be a rare single-game weekend for a WolfPack team that has managed an arduous travel schedule well to start the season.

Holding a record of 5-3, the WolfPack are second in the Pacific Division with a winning percentage of .625 per cent. They have an edge over the 5-3-2 UFV Cascades and trail only the 7-0-2 UBC Thunderbirds.

Lethbridge meanwhile is 4-2-1 to start the season and sit in third place in the Prairie Division with a winning percentage of .619.

TRU enters the weekend after an offensive explosion powered them to a 4-2 victory over the Saskatchewan Huskies in their last action. Rookie, and Kamloops local, Aiden Muzio was named the TRU Athlete of the Week after scoring his first WolfPack goal in his first start with the team.

The Pronghorns went undefeated last weekend, earning a 0-0 tie with UFV before defeating the UNBC Timberwolves 1-0.

Three Things

1: The WolfPack's home game on Saturday will be their Soccer for Cancer game. Entry to the game will be by donation to the Canadian Cancer Society.

2: Food from Fryer's Express will be available at the game.

3: TRU is 3-0-2 all-time in Canada West play against Lethbridge.

By The Numbers

4: Kaelin Nguyen is tied for fifth in the conference scoring race with four goals for the WolfPack.

6: The Pronghorns boast the stingiest defence in the conference, conceding just six goals in their opening seven games.

7: Seven different players have found the back of the net so far this season for TRU with Kaelin Nguyen (four goals) and Lachlan Will (two goals) leading the way.
