Season Story
KAMLOOPS – Sitting in second place in the Pacific Division the Thompson Rivers WolfPack men's soccer team will get the chance to play inside the friendly confines of Hillside Stadium again this weekend as they host a pair of games.
Facing the UBC Thunderbirds (9-0-2) on Friday and the UNBC Timberwolves (0-4-6) on Saturday, the games will both get underway at 7:30 p.m.
First up for the 'Pack is a battle between first and second as TRU (6-3-0) takes on the only team head of them in the standings in the form of UBC. This will be the first meeting between the two teams this season and while TRU is just 5-15-5 all-time against UBC they do hold a record of 4-5-4 against the Thunderbirds at Hillside Stadium.
Next up for the WolfPack will be a Timberwolves team that while being winless this season have tied six of their ten games. These teams have met once already this season with
James Rainbird and
Kaelin Nguyen scoring to send TRU to a 2-1 victory in Prince George.
The WolfPack come into the weekend with momentum behind them. They took down the Lethbridge Pronghorns by a score of 1-0 in their only game last weekend and have won two games in a row.
UBC won both games they played last weekend, securing a 3-2 win over MacEwan and a 2-0 victory over Calgary while UNBC played to a pair of ties with first the Alberta Golden Bears and then the Mount Royal Cougars.
Three Things
1: The game on Friday will be a double-header of exciting events. It will be Puppies & Pints night with dogs allowed inside Hillside Stadium. There will be a halftime race with prizing donated by Petland as well as booths from Kamloops RuffStart and TRU Veterinary Technology.
2: Food from Fryer's Express will be available at the games with a beer garden set up inside the stadium on Friday.
3: Goalkeeper
Toran Rutherford was named the WolfPack Athlete of the Week after his shutout performance against Lethbridge last weekend.
By The Numbers
6: With six wins already this season the 'Pack have already won their most games in a season since 2023.
10: With two more shutouts this past weekend, WolfPack goalkeeper Floor Ursem now has 10 in her WolfPack career, three more than any other player in the program's Canada West history.
3: The WolfPack are a perfect 3-0 at home this season.
