Weekend Story
KAMLOOPS – The Thompson Rivers WolfPack women's volleyball team will look to build on a magical season that has featured plenty of program-firsts this weekend when they head to Edmonton for the Canada West Final Four.
Entering as the No. 4 seed, the 'Pack will face the host and No. 1 seed Alberta Pandas in a semifinal Friday night at 5:00 p.m. PT. Win and TRU will advance to the Canada West Championship the next night at 6:00 p.m. PT, while a defeat would see them play for Bronze at 4:00 p.m. PT.
The WolfPack advanced to the Canada West semifinal stage for just the second time in program history after they defeated the reigning national champion Manitoba Bisons in the quarter-finals. TRU (14-6), outlasted Manitoba (14-6) in a 3-2 victory Thursday, fell to the Bisons 3-1 Friday before securing the best-of-three series with a dominant 3-0 victory on Saturday. WolfPack libero
Olivia Andulajevic was named the CW Player of the Week for her 35-dig performance while
Rida Erlalelitepe and
Faith Christensen stepped up in the all-important elimination game. Erlalelitepe tied the CW record for most service aces in a three-set playoff game with seven while Christensen's eight blocks tied her career high.
Alberta (18-2), the defending Canada West Champions, punched their ticket to the Final Four with a commanding 3-1, 3-0 sweep over the Winnipeg Wesmen (8-12) last weekend.
These teams met earlier in the season with the Pandas coming out on top in late January with wins of 3-1 and 3-2. The WolfPack are one of just three teams to either have taken Alberta to five sets or defeated the Pandas during the regular season.
Both teams have already clinched their berth to the U SPORTS National Championship taking place March 13-15 in Langley, B.C.
3 Things
1: The Den on campus will be hosting a watch party on both days of competition. There will be door prizes, food specials and more to enjoy while cheering on the WolfPack.

3: While the Canada West quarter-final was a best-of-three series, from here on out all of the WolfPack's games will be single matchup affairs.
